At New Mt Vernon United Methodist Church,

*WE BELIEVE: that God wants every person to experience salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ, be in active participation in the body of Christ (the Church), and grow as a follower of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

*WE BELIEVE: in God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth.

*WE BELIEVE: in Jesus Christ, God's Only Son, our Lord who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

*WE BELIEVE: in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church (of Jesus Christ), the communion of saints (eternal life to those who trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior), the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

Our Mission statement is derived from the following scripture passages:

Matthew 22.37-39
37He said to him "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38This is the greatest and first commandment. 39And a second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'

Matthew 25.35-40
35For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me. 37Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? 38And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? 39And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you? 40And the king will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.'

Matthew 28.19-20
19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
